THE DISCONNECT

First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, needed more than just a tech upgrade.

They needed a contemporary, broadcast-capable AV system to elevate the clarity, immersion, and impact of every service. In a space where architecture plays such a central role in emotional impact, aesthetics were non-negotiable.

The challenge: updating a dated space with the latest technology while preserving the architectural integrity of their 1,500-seat cathedral-style sanctuary.

THE SCIENCE

Acoustics are always the first challenge in a space that was never made for loudspeakers.

The church wanted concert-level audio clarity, but without treatments that could alter or dampen the signature character of their pipe organ. With line arrays off the table due to sightline sensitivity, everything had to be clean, discreet, and mounted to the walls.

To deliver even, intelligible sound from front to back without overwhelming the front rows, we installed a Meyer CAL 96 paired with a 10-foot custom bass array and dual 10” Meyer sub boxes to deliver tight, controlled mid-bass that reached the back of the room without overwhelming the front. The CAL 96’s beam steering allowed us to shape and steer the sound right where it needed to go—delivering an almost unheard-of level of control in a traditional cathedral setting.

THE ART

Every decision came back to one thing: keep it beautiful.

To support custom broadcast shots without disrupting the in-person experience, we integrated Panasonic PTZ cameras for seamless, high-quality coverage—paired with one manned camera discreetly positioned under the balcony and equipped with a 55x box lens for maximum reach and minimal visibility.

Lighting required the same level of finesse. No rigging across the ceiling. No visible bars. Just a clean, balanced design that lit the stage with intention—delivering a professional-grade experience for both live and broadcast audiences. With future renovations already in motion, every piece of infrastructure was engineered to be mobile, flexible, and easy to reprogram.

From Our Clients
"
I enjoyed working with CSD because they know the balance between professionalism and personal touch that all of us want. We had never done a multimillion dollar building project. They knew what hurdles were coming for us and were ready to help us with those hurdles.
